Alligators live in the southern United States, mainly in Florida and Louisiana. They are most commonly found in the major lakes, swamps and canals. An adult alligator can reach a length of 14 feet and weigh as heavy as 1000lbs!

With a population of 5 million wild alligators, the contact between people and alligators are increasing daily. Under state laws Alligators may be harvested during state controlled public hunts. Programs have been established by the states for the removal of nuisance wild gators.
